Favorite GTK4/libadwaita apps (updated)
Although I am just as fascinated by the more nerdy graphical Linux desktops and window managers such as Hyprland or Sway, I pretty much fell in love with GNOME early on in my Linux desktop exploration. Especially since back then the migration to libadwaita and GTK4 has just arrived in its heyday. 😊️
With GNOME Shell on mobile and the soon-to-dawn era when Linux phones will be fully "everyday ready", the GNOME ecosystem will become even more attractive to me. Because then it will be possible to enjoy my favorite apps seamlessly on mobile as well as on laptop and desktop. 🤓️
And this article is in fact about exactly that: enjoying apps! 🥳️ Or more precisely about my favorites among the GTK4/libadwaita apps.
Many of these apps do only one thing, but usually do it elegantly and efficiently.
Of course, this list is subjective. It only contains apps that I personally use when there are in fact many others that are beautifully done as well, like Denaro (personal finances manager), Parabolic (YouTube downloader), Workbench (GNOME prototyping environment) and many more that didn't make the list because I personally have no use for them.
Oh, I made the screen grabs in light mode. However, all of the listed apps come with support for dark mode too. 🤓️
